Monika Steiner

Monika Steiner (born 1972) is an artist and sculptor. She lives in Fairfax, California.
==Personal life==
Monika Steiner was born in 1972 in Gysenstein, Switzerland. She earned a Bachelor of Arts and Teaching Credential at the University of Bern, and became a teacher at Bönigen elementary school, where she incorporated art into her classroom.
In 2000 Steiner moved to the United States where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Sonoma State University. Her art at this time dealt with her internal struggles, such as the difficulty of experiencing and adapting to culture shock.〔(Containers of Information, the Art of ) SF Art News〕〔(Changing Paths ) Argus Courier, retrieved Nov 15, 2006〕
In 2005 she broke her back in a horse riding accident near her Petaluma, California art studio. She spent time immobile in a hospital. One year to the day of her riding accident, the Plaza Gallery in San Francisco contacted Steiner to set up an exhibition of her abstract art.
